People Potential Coach

Determined Leader, Charismatic, Inspiring, Energetic

Long before she opened her own career coaching and mentoring business, Cecile Peterkin was already a coach and mentor to a number of individuals. For Cecile, it’s just a way of life, a natural skill set that she fully utilizes for those searching for their own life or career path.

As a senior manager of operations and administration for 17 years at one of Canada’s largest mutual fund companies, she was always looked towards to provide guidance in assisting junior staff in achieving their goals. A staff member in particular that Cecile had hired was for the most part, struggling with her work. Cecile spent time with her, learning that the single mother of two was having a difficult time juggling work and parenting – her main goal was to give her children opportunities in life. Cecile was able to encourage her, not only to succeed in the work place, but to find the balance she was striving for. Even in such a fast-paced, competitive industry, Cecile held to the belief that each individual just wants to be nurtured and recognized for their potential, and once that potential was unlocked, they would find the key to their success.

This inspired her to follow her own heart and ambitions, opening The Cosmic Coaching Career Centre and ProMentoring Inc in 2002. She is a certified career and retirement coach, as well as a member of the International Coach Federation and the Career Professionals of Canada. Personally, the qualities that make a strong coach and mentor come naturally to her: she is a strong, direct and determined leader. Most importantly, she is energetic, optimistic and has fun with her clients.

Through her companies, Cecile provides one-on-one or team counselling services in career and leadership coaching, mentoring, empowerment counselling, training and personal development. She has worked with a large number of clients across Canada, the United States, and international in a wide range of professions – everything from teaching to corporate executive positions. A memorable client in particular realized their dream of becoming an ordained minister under Cecile’s masterful guidance.

Cecile generated significant media coverage in major newspapers, magazines, broadcasts and online outlets: Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Toronto Sun, Metro Toronto, Bankrate Canada, Canadian Living, HR Professional, BNN, CTS, Best Health, Women’s Post.

Cecile is very involved in the community, and is a committed volunteer with the Junior League of Toronto. She is also a mentor to a number of youth in the Toronto area. She voluntarily provides free workshops aimed at helping young women and youth in at-risk communities. Cecile is also an in-demand guest lecturer at Seneca College, presenting there up to 3 times a year to lead tomorrow’s graduates into positioning themselves for a competitive job market. She has done much work for new college and university graduates, helping to prepare them for their first jobs.

Her commitment to volunteer work and mentoring was recognized with her nomination to become the first black president of the Junior League of Toronto. Cecile Peterkin will proudly be taking on her new role in the summer of 2011.
